The history of our Kellerstöckls

In the Kellerstöckl of the Heuberger siblings on the Hochkogel in Eltendorf, you can take a break from everyday life in the midst of untouched nature.

The newly built Kellerstöckl of the siblings Georg, Nora and Hans Peter HEUBERGER is located in an idyllic landscape with a dream view of the vineyards on the Hochkogel and far into neighboring Hungary.
The wine-growing tradition of our Kellerstöckl, which goes back five generations, is located at 345 m above sea level.

Kellerstöckl Heuberger

In the past, when farmers still had to do compulsory labor for the aristocratic landowners, small farmers were allowed to cultivate their own wine, their “house drink”, for their own use.
At that time, small, solid log buildings, plastered with clay and covered with straw, were built, mostly on a sloping hillside in the middle of the vineyard, and served as workrooms and wine cellars for the wine.
After work, grandfather sat on the bench in front of his wine cellar in the sun, drew his pipe, drank his own house wine and let his gaze wander over the landscape. The view “obn oba” was and is simply stunning. After modernization in vitculture, the Kellerstöckl were too small, were abandoned and fell into oblivion. So also the Heuberger wine cellar The three Heuberger siblings came up with the idea of waking this aging wine cellar from its slumber and turning it into modern holiday accommodation.
The premises must correspond to today`s luxury.

The legends

Under the expert guidance of the architect Dipl-Ing. Georg Marterer restored the old wine cellar  with a lot of commitment, feeling and passion and converted it into a holiday home, whereby strict attention was paid during the conversion and expansion that the Kellerstöckl was presented as original as possible. Today the Heuberger Kellerstöckl offers a special holiday oasis. It was furnished to measure by the carpenter – with great attention to detail and warmth. This chic Kellerstöckl offers space for two to six people on two floors and can be rented all year round thanks to a swedish fireplace.
